Pursuing justice …. from the heart

For decades Klippensteins was a small but growing team of exceptional progressive Toronto lawyers committed to access to justice and public interest law, conducting outstanding work in a variety of legal and societal issue areas. Then the Law Society of Ontario imposed a radical ideological commitment requirement on the entire legal profession that fundamentally attacked the bar’s principles of independence, equality and competence.  Klippenstein refused as a matter of profound commitment to be complicit in the destruction of the core principles of the profession, necessitating the winding down of the firm. Then in a surprise twist, that principled stand resulted in Klippenstein being elected to the Law Society's governing body as the leading representative from Toronto, and he has continued to stand for key professional principles at the Law Society and in his continuing sole practice ever since.
